The internationalization of Korea, bit by bit

Although Korea's been known as the Hermit Kingdom, not particularly welcoming of foreigners in their country or interested in going abroad, there are signs of Seoul becoming more weigook-friendly. (I'm approximating the spelling of the word. It's pronounced Way-gook and means foreigner.)

These days the announcements on the subways are not only in Korean and English, but sometimes in Chinese.

Most of the ATMs I've used have Chinese and English too. Here in my neighborhood, they even have Tagalog (at least I think that's what it is) and Bahasa. There are a lot of Filipinos and Nigerians here.

I do still get stared at most days though.
