Sounds around town

The background music that accompanies a lot of public life is also fairly sugary. Not always, but often.

A couple of recent examples--the Bee Gees being piped through the speakers in the plaza area outside the sports complex where I go swimming. "How Deep is Your Love" took me right back to 1977. And I had one of those moments, thinking about how my high school self could never have imagined my 46-year old self would be listening to the same song in such a different time and place.

Also, the soundtrack from the Sound of Music was being played on campus a few days ago. No particular reason that I could discern.
