More Food Quirks

A few more things that have struck me as funny here:

  • In the university cafeteria, there's no water on the tables but on the way out after the meal you can stop and get a sterilized cup and fill it with hot or cold water. I commented on this and people told me that they think it's bad for your digestion to actually drink with the meal. But the food is so spicy that they have to have water afterwards.
  • In a restaurant I recently ordered a "cheese cone" ramen noodle soup, out of curiousity. What arrived was a bowl of ramen soup with a slice of melted processed cheese floating in the middle. Being a cheese addict, I ate it anyway.
  • The Seoul Art Museum has a fancy cafe. You know it's fancy because the coffee costs $4 and is advertised as "no trans fatty."
