"It's more important to be beautiful than comfortable"

Not my motto, as I'm sure you know. But one of my students told me this was true for women in Korea and my observations tell me she might be right. Or at least right when it comes to women under 40.

It's winter here. Not as cold as winter back home, but winter nonetheless. I've seen not just one or two young women, but many of them wearing SHORTS. They usually have stockings or tights or knee socks on as well, but even so.... Sometimes they wear boots with the same outfit, sometimes just high heels.

Another fashion trend is leggings, or dance style tights with stirrups. Again, these are worn with high-heeled shoes. Granted, there's no snow on the sidewalks (a little on the campus lawns), but that's got to be really really cold.
