Strangers have gone out of their way to help me find my way. Yesterday, when I got on the bus to Seoul, the older Korean gentleman sitting next to me first helped me be sure I'd paid the fare correctly, then struck up a conversation. It turns out he's a retired teacher himself and now does something with the Korean Cartoonists Association. Who knew such a thing existed? Anyway, when we got off the bus, he asked a street vendor for directions to be sure I was going in the right direction to get to Kyobo Books, then walked me part way, just to be extra sure, and showed me the way to get back to the bus to return to Suwon later. He even gave me his card, saying I could call him if I needed help, since he lives in Suwon too.
When I was on my way to my first Korean class, I got off the bus too soon. It was evening and raining. I saw a couple of soldiers (one middle-aged, one very young), approached them, and showed them the Korean version of the class flyer, whih gave the name of the high school I was trying to find. They conferred a minute, then the younger soldier actually drove me there and dropped me off at the door! As we parted, he said, "Have a nice day!"
