Don't know what possessed me, but I went to a huge shopping center/amusement park/theater/ice skating rink on the day after Chuseok (Thanksgiving). Of course, it was mobbed. But I did manage to buy some Hello Kitty merchandise as a present for Ruby Lou Buff/Austin before getting a splitting headache and having to escape the crowds.
I headed over to Hongdae (sp?) University and watched the students go by as I sipped at a huge strong ice coffee at a faux Italian cafe. Reminded me of the area around NYU, but the students were more dressed up--lots of high heels and make up. And lots of smoking.
I did see my first facial piercings and bright orange hair in Korea though. And a poodle with dyed yellow ears. And more Westerners than I'd seen before. And Starbucks, The Body Shop, Dunkin Donuts....
