Busan final tidbits

The Jewish thing again--my hostess asked me, or so I thought, if I had a lover in Seoul. I was very surprised by her question until I realized she was asking if I had a rabbi. It's those darn L's V's and R's, which so often interfere with pronunciation here.

My hosts have a cuckoo clock in their kitchen, a souvenir from a trip to Switzerland. They said it kept good time when they first got it, but now it runs fast, so we joked that the clock had adjusted to Korean culture, which is all about "hurry! hurry!"

I went to the Busan Aquarium, which is supposed to be one of the main tourist attractions, and was decidedly underwhelmed. Although there were neat exotic fish and marine life to look at, there were also two rooms with two lions in one and two tigers in the other. The rooms were small and bare and depressed me. I couldn't figure out why an aquarium would have such animals, and I knew they shouldn't be kept in such conditions :-( But Korea isn't known for its kind treatment of animals, unfortunately.
