This seems to be the season of festivals here, which makes sense; summer is too hot, winter's mostly too cold and spring is full of yellow dust.
Anyway, here are some photos from the Hwaseong Festival, which took place right here in Suwon this week. I went with my friend Jayne.
The kids playing the drums were really good. We saw some of them running around later and noticed even the boys were wearing sparkling eye make up.
Jayne (with her dog Ziggy in tow) is standing next to a man who was part of a reenactment of some kind of royal ceremony that, to be honest, I didn't quite understand. We saw him standing near us before the ceremony and both thought he looked kind of mean and scary. Then he caught our eye(s?) and smiled (something that Koreans rarely do) and he seemed quite friendly. So, we asked for pictures.
