The young man here calls himself Michael. He used to use the English name Jacob, which is close to the pronunciation of his Korean name. But he recently changed it to Michael because he said Jacob was somehow bad luck. It had something to do with his having an older brother, but I really didn't understand. A couple of students tried to explain it to me, though I still didn't quite get it. It's about the hierarchy according to birth order and family position and how names are supposed to determine one's luck and future (I think).
