Friends

My friends Reid and James introduced me to their friends Manu and Suneeti, also from the Seoul International Hikers Club.

Manu and Suneeti are from Montreal and were also teaching here in Korea. He's a theoretical physicist, so none of the rest of us really understands what he does. She's an English literature professor.

They were here on a year-long sabbatical, which just ended. So, we went out for dinner and drinks to see them off.

A funny story about Suneeti--she brought a homemade cheesecake to a dinner at Reid and James' place and it was really good so we asked her about the recipe. She said she remembered the recipe from a cookbook her mother used to have, which was published by the Winnipeg Jewish Ladies Auxiliary. When her parents immigrated to Canada from India many years ago they were one of just a few Asian immigrants in Winnipeg. Somehow her mother wound up with that cookbook and kept it for many many years.
