More Wonderful Words

This is Sue. She's been teaching English for more than 20 years and was the captain of her class. (Maybe having class captains is a Korean thing?) A great thing about Sue is that even after teaching for so many years she still works really hard to improve her English skills. She used to call me her "angel."

This man's English name is Scofield. On the first day of class he told me he chose the name because of the TV show "Prison Break." He was the captain of his class.

Scofield is a very special guy. He called me one Saturday after I'd been too sick too teach the previous day and took me out to lunch. We talked about life in Korea & in the U.S. (he spent a couple of months in Texas on a Fulbright), about teaching (of course) and all kinds of things.

He and a couple of other classmates also took me book shopping--one of my favorite activities in any country. And he showed me how to use the camera that took this picture.

Here's part of what he wrote: "It was wonderful for me to spend 5 months with you....How do I express my genuine feeling? You can't imagine how much I have enjoyed your class....You always have encouraged me to do my best by your big smile. You have made everything in this course much nicer and greater. Time flies so fast. It is time to say good bye but I believe this is not the last time we can meet together."
