Korean Kitsch

There's a lot of it. And, not surprisingly, much is in English.

A few examples:

  • pastel colored notebooks, binders, and other school supplies printed with phrases like "beautiful day" or "above the rainbow". These are used by adults of both genders.
  • winter hats that look like little rabbits and other cute critters. They have strings resembling the animal's paws to tie under the wearer's chin. I saw an adult man in McDonald's wearing one in pink on New Year's day. He was with several people and none of them was paying any attention to his headgear.
  • The dish towel I bought because it says "The sky is overspread with clouds."
